This may happen mostly when you are playing an HD video because HD videos usually need more RAM to preload. If you are playing an online streaming video with VLC, insufficient cache space could also cause the player freezing. If you realize that the playback always freezes after about the same amount of time of playing, then this might be the case. You can try assigning more RAM for VLC to cache the video to fix the problem. The detailed steps on how to do that will be introduced later in this article.

If you think the VLC freezing problem is caused by the insufficient cache space or system memory, like mentioned in the last part, you can try changing the cache value and assigning more memory space for the video playback. Here is how to do it.

As introduced above, if your VLC freezing problem happens at the very beginning of the video playback, then it could be the wrong video output setting that caused the problem. To change video output setting, follow the instructions below.

Firstly, VLC Player has indeed captured a ton of loyal users by its powerful decoding ability and great word of mouth. VLC Player was firstly released in 2011 and has accumulated a lot of experience for the media playing technology in these years. However, after years of evolution, VLC still keeps the same old look and the same old glitches like freezing during playback, which may not be a great deal, but still could be annoying for some users. However, Leawo Blu-ray Player, on the other hand, is more stable, more compatible and has a more user-friendly software design that would make most of the users like this software in the first sight. VLC Media Player is definitely a leading open source cross-platform multimedia player in the industry, I bet it's the default program on most people's computer to play video, movie and music files. However, a long-standing issue that may trouble all users is, VLC player sometimes keeps freezing while playing videos, especially the high-definition videos. If you're trapped in this case, never miss the solutions below.

I take it that most VLC users are likely to be plagued with VLC freezing while playing videos or VLC video freezes but audio continues, especially for those high-definition videos that come with a large file size. Indeed, I too have been troubled by this frustrating problem for a while. To this end, I rummaged through Google SERPs and even submitted a ticket on VideoLAN forum for troubleshooting this issue. Finally, hard work pays off, I've compiled a list of some possible solutions below that may work for you as well.

To avoid any inconsistent operation and layout, make sure your VLC version is up-to-date. It is a common sense that the latest version will fix a series of leftover and new arising issues. It will probably address the VLC keeps freezing issue. To update your VLC, here are two approaches:

Way 2: Run VLC, navigate to "Help" on top menu bar and select "Check for Updates". If there is any new version available, you will be prompted to download and update in the first place.

High-resolution video playback requires a high decoding performance which is a CPU-intensive operation. This is also a standard to test the decoding ability of a media player. If the decoding performance isn't up to par, VLC player will be constantly freezing due to high CPU and memory usage. Fortunately, VLC media player can use your GPU to accelerate decoding video for the smooth playback, which can free CPU's heavy work. So if you have a fairly decent graphics card and make the driver up-to-date, follow the steps below to enable the Hardware-accelerated Decoding feature.

Note: However, sometimes it may fix VLC freezing issue by disabling Hardware-accelerated Decoding and only use its own soft decoding ability. It's hard to explain the reason. Based on your case, just switch the option back and forth and see the result.

Skipping the loop filter (aka deblocking) usually has a detrimental effect on quality. You can try it as a last resort. However, it does provide a big speedup for HD video. Many users have solved the VLC freezing issue in this way.

The foregoing paragraphs refer to the internal causes of VLC freezing. If they are not helpful to fix the issue, try to improve and troubleshoot it on the external causes. In addition to updating graphic card driver, upgrading PC configuration and repairing corrupted videos, the most workable solution is to convert and compress HD video to unburden the VLC labored decoding. And a free program named Free HD Video Converter Factory is qualified for this job with intuitive GUI and oversimplified operation.Free DownloadFree Downloadand install the freeware on your computer.

HD Video Converter Factory Pro has strengthened the capacity of the free version. It further allows you to simply compress video, convert video/audio in batch mode, 1080p/4K/8K upscaling, record videos with sound, create GIFs and more. Just download and give it a try.

If you recently updated Windows before the Netflix freezing problem started, you may need to troubleshoot fixing the issues caused by those updates. Specifically, you may need to roll back your graphics driver to the version that was previously working.

For instance, some users report that their Fire TV keeps freezing and lagging frequently. There are several factors that cause this. In this post, we highlight some of these factors and their respective solutions.

If you can navigate the Fire TV interface but video content keeps buffering or freezing, your internet connection is most likely the problem. Interestingly, Fire OS lets you check the status of your Wi-Fi connection.

Wait for a minute and open the app again. If the app keeps freezing your Fire TV, the app is probably outdated or contains some bugs. In that case, updating the app might be the only solution. Proceed to the next section to learn how to update apps on your Fire TV.

Resetting your Fire TV to factory default will remove all third-party apps, delete your downloads, and deregister your Amazon account from the streaming device. On the upside, however, factory resetting your Fire TV will most likely resolve issues causing it to freeze during usage.

Hello there, I am testing out streaming small video files and I noticed the largest file (65mb) freezes randomly after about being halfway over. The video file is an mp4 recorded at 720p I believe. It is a shared file if you have the link but I am the only one accessing it right now. It is being streamed directly, not downloaded. I saw an older thread about this but it is closed so I opened a new one. I have only a basic account for now because, as I said, I was testing. Thanks in advance for any help. 2ff7e9595c
